- Stages of Antar Mouna:a. Stage 1 – Witnessing the Thoughts (Mantra Awareness): Start by observing the thoughts that arise in your mind without engaging with them. Assign a mental label to each thought, such as “thinking” or “planning,” and let the thought go. Additionally, you can use a neutral mantra like “Om” or “So Ham” to help anchor your awareness and create distance from the thoughts.b. Stage 2 – Witnessing the Spontaneous Thoughts: In this stage, you allow the mind to generate spontaneous thoughts without deliberate thinking. Observe these thoughts without judgment or attachment, acknowledging them and letting them dissolve on their own.
c. Stage 3 – Witnessing the Feelings and Sensations: Expand your awareness to include bodily sensations, emotions, and feelings. Observe any physical discomfort or pleasant sensations, as well as any emotional states that arise. Maintain a state of detached observation.
d. Stage 4 – Witnessing the Silence: Gradually, as the mental activity subsides, focus on the spaces between thoughts and sensations. Rest in the inner silence and stillness that emerges. This stage allows you to experience a deeper level of awareness beyond thoughts and emotions.
- Closure and Reflection: After completing the stages, gradually bring your awareness back to the present moment. Take a few deep breaths and reflect on the experience. Notice any changes in your mental state or awareness.
