Caring Toes & Joints with Padanguli Sakti Vikasaka

The phrase Padanguli sakti vikasaka’ has arisen out of the name of the organs to which this exercise benefits. The Pada is feet and anguli means fingers and so padanguli means toes of the foot. This exercise strengthens the tendons, ligaments and muscles of toes of the foot.

Starting Posture of Padanguli Sakti Vikasaka

Stand with the feet together, body erect and relaxed, and your arms spread out horizontally.

Exercise/ Technique of Padanguli Sakti Vikasaka

  1. With the toes held together, throw the entire weight of the body on your tips.
  2. Try to maintain your balance in this position as long as you can.

Beginners may practice for three minutes.

Precaution of Padanguli Sakti Vikasaka

As usual we should always be more focused on the precautions despite benefits of any exercise.  I think this exercise should not have any precautions to be followed except during injury in any part of the feet. Arthritis Patients may do carefully as the pain can increase. In this case, they should massage with red colour charged oil and can also use abdominal wet pack and hot and cold fomentation over the toes.

  1. This exercise strengthens the feet and the toes and their joints.
  2. Deformed toes improve in appearance.

  4. Those interested in running will derive much benefit from this exercise. Alongwith this sukshama vyayama, you should also practice yoga for runners.
  5. Specially recommended to inhabitants of hilly area.
