Neti is intended mainly to clean the air passageways in the head. Gheranda Samhita describes only about sutra neti. It mentions about the thin thread measuring half a cubit that is to be inserted into the nostrils, moving it to and fro and then pulled out of the mouth. By doing this kriya, GS states that one attains Khechari Siddhi, destroys phlegm disorders and get clairvoyance or clear sight.
