Yoga Teacher and Evaluator

Yoga Teacher and Evaluator is the Third level certification by Ayush under the category of Yoga Education & Training.

What Yoga Teacher and Evaluator can do?

They can work as Master Trainers in Yoga educational Institutions, Yoga training Courses and training programs. They can also act as Evaluator and assessor of Yoga professionals. Can teach in studios, Institutions, colleges/ universities/ Institutions of higher Learning.

The Department of Ayush has also defined personal attributes for this level – Yoga Teacher and Evaluator as good communication skills, time management skills and ability to understand the body language of the trainees. Their job requires individual to possess key qualities such as self discipline, confidence, maturity, patience, compassion, active listening, time management, empathetic, language proficiency, engaging with students, dedication to teaching, ability to build caring relationships with students, friendliness and approachability, Independent, credible, analytical skills etc.

Requirement/ Eligibility

  1. For open candidates there is no eligibility criteria.
  2. For admission in the course, it is suggested/ desired that the candidate should be graduate in any stream from a recognized University or equivalent. However, the Yoga Institutions can define their own eligibility.

Minimum Age for Yoga Protocol Instructor Certification

Any person of any age can apply for this certification.

Duration of Course

Not less than 800 hours or not less than 15 month as part time or not less than 9 month as full time course.

Syllabus & Marks Distribution

The Total Marks of Exam for Certification of Yoga Protocol Instructor is 200. Out of this, theory Part will be of 80 marks and the Practical of will be 120.

Theory Exam consists of 80 Multiple Choice Questions, each of 1 mark. All the questions are compulsory. The duration of theory exam is 2 hours. You are required to secure minimum passing marks, otherwise you will not be proceeded for practical exam. Hence, you will need to attend the theory exam by paying the exam fee again at the next available date of examination.

The candidate is required to attain 70% marks, out of the total of theory plus practical. It means that you will required to get 140 marks to clear the exam and get certified. You will required to secure 42 (70%) out of 60 marks of Theory exams and 98 (70%) out of 140 Marks of Practical exams.

Theory Part

The duration of the theory examination is 2 hours. The candidates shall mark the answer in Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheet. There is no negative marking in the written examination.Theory exam paper is bilingual – English & Hindi. For exam in other language, the question paper is in English and the language selected.

  2. Brief Introduction to origin, history and development of Yoga (Pre-Vedic period to contemporary times)
  3. Yoga in Principle Upanishads.
  4. Yoga tradition in Jainism: Syadvada (theory of seven fold predictions); Concept of Kayotsarga / Preksha meditation)
  5. Yoga Tradition in Buddhism: concept of Aryasatyas (four noble truths).
  6. Salient features and branches of Bharatiya Darshana (Astika and Nastika Darshana)
  7. General introduction to Shad Darshana with special emphasis on Samkhya, Yoga and Vedanta Darshana.

Practical includes Demonstration, Teaching skill, Therapy skill, Evaluation skill, application of knowledge and field Experience as per the level of certification.  Similar to earlier levels, there are

  • 20 Marks for Teaching Skills, and
  • 10 Marks for Application of knowledge.

  • 20 Marks for Evaluation Skills

The total marks are 120 Marks.

Validity of Yoga Protocol Expert Certificate

The most important point to know is validity of the certificate and effective date. So, with effect from the date of declaration of result, the validity starts and remain valid for 5 Years.  But the certified Yoga professional is required to get renewal of his/her certificate before its expiry.

Word by word meaning is given in this book. It has good explanations of shlokas. Word by word meaning from Sanskrit to English. Author’s detailed and valuable notes make this book special for all Yoga, Specially suitable for all Acadamic use.
  6. Shreemad Bhagvadgita, Gita press Gorakhpur. This book is available in both format – hard cover and soft cover. There is not much difference in the prices of both as well as the shipping charges are not much different. So, better to purchase hard bound book.
