Swadhisthana Chakra Shuddhi Kriya, as the name suggests, is the exercise for purification of sacral chakra and strengthen the sphincters of the genitourinary system and anus.

Starting Posture of Swadhisthana Chakra Shuddhi

Stand straight, keeping your feet at a distance of 1 -1/2 feet from each other.

Exercise/ Technique of Swadhisthana Chakra Shuddhi

  1. With buttocks rigid, contract and draw upward the muscles of the rectum and of the genital organs.
  2. Breathing would automatically be suspended and your feet, knees and thighs will begin to tremble.
  3. As this particular exercise draws upon your energy very heavily, special care should be taken in doing it correctly. Basically, this is just like kegel’s exercise to strengthen the pelvic muscles.

Precautions of Swadhisthana Chakra Shuddhi

During menstruation, one should be careful with this exercise.

Benefits of Swadhisthana Chakra Shuddhi

  1. Swadhisthana Chakra Shuddhi Kriya helps to stimulate the pelvic center and results in stimulation of the hypogastria plexus of nerves. From both these centers, the nerve supply goes to the lower part of the intestinal tract as well as to the pelvic viscera and the sphincters of the genito urinary system as well as the anus.
  2. Complement this exercise with Mooladhara Chakra Shuddhi for strengthening the lower abdominal organs.
