We have to counter this habit by realizing the pains associated with this habit. Every act of human being is in the direction of minimizing pain and maximizing the pleasure. If a short-term pleasure robs our many important things of life, the wisdom does not allow us in the direction of the pleasure. Suggest yourself that you are the winner of your mind, the leader of all senses. Your all senses ate under your control.
Actually, in this therapy, unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior (in this case, disturbing sexual thoughts and acts) are identified by the therapist and his client. For example, someone might only notice the negative things that happen to them and not notice the positive things. Or, someone might set unrealistic standards for themselves, such as “making mistakes at work is unacceptable”. It’s also important to identify unhelpful behaviors that maintain symptoms, such as avoiding certain situations and withdrawing from others.
At the cognitive level, the process of therapy includes
• Identifying your thought patterns in which we fall trap and could not resolve it.
• Discovering how your thoughts affect your feelings and behaviors.
• Determining if your thoughts are accurate.

And at the behavior level, the process includes

So, we just counter irrational thoughts by questioning their validity. I hope that REBT for addiction will similarly help you as sexual addiction.
