Generally all bad breath odours (halitosis) are because of anaerobic bacteria that remains in the mouth at the back of tongue, throat and tonsils. It is needless to say that if you have not brushed your teeth properly, this issue arises. But sometimes despite brushing properly, this problem of bad breath (halitosis) arises because of the following underlying causes:
Xerostomia or dry mouth
This may be due to not drinking enough fluids, sleeping with mouth open, dry hot weather, eating dry foods or medication side effects.
Infected Tonsils
Consult Doctor for tonsils. Always wash your hands before meals.
High Protein Diet
If you are taking high protein diet ignoring carb diet, it may cause bad breath (halitosis).
Diabetes
Basically, people sometimes report bad breath (halitosis) once they reach full ketosis.
The body produces ketones when you don't have enough insulin in your body to turn sugar (or glucose) into energy. The body then need another source for energy, i.e. fat.
Your liver turns this fat into ketones, a type of acid, and sends them into your bloodstream
Sinus Problems
People with sinus problems also has bad breath. You can do jala neti, sutra neti as well.
So, for bad breath, one can use the following tips:
(i) Hydrate your body well by drinking water
(ii) Can do kapol shakti vikasak kriya for proper aeration and oxygenation of the buccal cavity
(iii) Should do jala-neti once a week
(iv) Add seasonal vegetables or fruit juice in evening meals
(v) At night after meal brush your teeth before sleeping or gargle with fitkari water
(vi) Should do oilpooling in the morning upon waking.
(vii) In diabetes, consult your doctor to let analyse the symptoms of bad breath indicating low carb in blood.
(viii)Similarly, for infected tonsils, consult your physician to treat them.
(ix) Take balanced meal. If on non-vegetarian, better to shift on vegetarian meal.
