Hello. I use to think each mudra has a chakra in use. After some research I learnt that Thumb is E (Manipura), Index finger is F (Anahata), Middle finger is G (Vishuddha), Ring finger is C (Muladhara) and Pinky is D (Svadhisthana).

So, I decided to remember some songs that has correct chakra for the mudra I use as I meditate.
But recently, I've been thinking there is 12 places in hand for 12 notes.
And it feels more correct, to count Muladhara from Thumb (after some more thoughts about aging and chakras), so my questions are:

Where does the knowledge that Thumb is Manipura and not Muladhara come from;
Is it absolutely correct?

I mean, if pinky is Svadhisthana, then it would be "orange", but if its G# (Vishuddha) it would be blue (and pinky is water element). Thank you in advance.

Hi Zmuo,

Apologies for the delay in replying to your question due to prolonged technical issues on the website which was not allowing to write on it.

Well, coming to your question, I must point out that the chakras are located on their positions of the subtle body and not physical body. It is the suksham body (subtle body) which has pranic (astral) channels and merging points are called chakras corresponding to the endocrine glands/ organs in the physical body.

As per your question, you can co-relate the tattwa (five elements) of the fingers of the hands with that of chakras, you will get the true answers. I hope that this would help you clarify your doubt on this confusion/ conflicting outcome of your research.

Please feel free to write to share your further experience. I will be happy to study/ research with you as it is exiciting for me to work on your questions. Have a nice day and happy new year ahead.
